Batonis Tsikhe one of the most significant monuments of late feudalist Georgia in Telavi, the residence of Georgian kings in XVII-XVIII century.

Being wounded in one of the battles with Persians King Vakhtang died in Ujarma Fortress in 502: ‘The lion of lions and the giant of giants died’.

The museum is a memorial complex of famous Georgian painter Niko Pirosmanishvili (Pirosmani) (1862-1918), including the house of the painter and exhibition hall exhibiting 14 original paintings of Pirosmani, his personal belongings, works, manuscripts of Georgian painters of XIX century and much more (10 000 exhibits).
